April nutrition folks!

Another great group! I want everyone from tonight’s nutrition class to ask me questions through this forum. Everyone will have similar questions, I promise! Remember to keep your food diary for the next week, and be sure to write down all the questions that accumulate until then! See you next week…;)

    Well, after the first nutrition class, it is “throttle up” on a full adherance to Paleo; no middle ground. We made our first trip to Down to Earth and stocked up on all sorts of items that before nutrition awareness, I never knew existed. But we’re still shackled with a learning curve and have questions on two items:
    #1: Are semi-sweet chocolate Mini Chips made by “Enjoy Life” Paleo acceptable? They claim to be dairy, nut and soy free, with ingredients said to be Evaporated Cane Juice, Natural Chocolate Liquor (Non-Alchoholic), Non-Dairy Coca Butter.
    #2: Are mints and chewing gum sweetened with Xylitol an acceptable alternative to other artificial sweeteners? (There’s got to be something out there!)

      The chocolate chips are acceptable in moderation. 😉 I often use chocolate chops that are dark…meaning over 73% cocoa content. The gum issue is one that I get asked a lot, but there really isn’t any way around it. Gum with xylitol would be a better option than artificial sweeteners but it has a laxative effect. Take notes if you start chewing it because you may want to know where the bathroom is!
