Household Cleaning Products: Make Yours With CHEAP, NATURAL Ingredients

Who does NOT have baking soda around the house?  Everyone has baking soda!  So, I want to encourage everyone to take a baby step towards more natural cleaning products sometime this month.  If you look at the chemical lists in household cleaning products, you will soon realize just how toxic these products are.  Not only are you using them in your house, but you pets and kids are probably rolling around in them daily!  If you ask me, I would rather use something more natural.  The issue you often run into with “natural” products that you buy in the store, they are EXPENSIVE! So, I want to share a couple quick, easy, homemade cleaning products with you in hopes that you will ditch the chemical stuff when it runs out….resist the urge to buy it at the store….I promise you will survive.  One thing at a time, begin to use more natural ingredients that date back to pre-grocery store days!

First off, buy a huge thing of baking soda and use it for everything. 😉  I personally use it to sprinkle on my carpets, leave it on for 15 minutes, then vacuum.   It works the same as the store bought stuff that has fragrances added, is completely toxic, and costs and arm and a leg.  Just use the basic baking soda, and you will get the same results.  You can also sprinkle it in the sinks and on counter tops and use a wet rags to scrub them down.  If you sprinkle baking soda down the drain and then pour apple cider vinegar into the drain, it will bubble.  Let it set for 15 minutes before running water.  Voila!  Unclogged drains!

Speaking of vinegar, you can also use regular vinegar and castile soup and water in a spray bottle to wash down bathrooms and kitchens.

There is a wealth of ideas out there for natural, homemade cleaning products and I encourage you to google the endless possibilities!  These are just a few ideas to get you started into a transition.  Ditch the expensive, toxic chemicals in pretty packages and embrace the cheaper, natural alternatives.  You, your pets, and your kids will thank you!
